Setting up monitoring projects can be complicated due to obstructions like buildings, equipment, and stockpiles. Using cell modems as part of the Greenlight Environmental Monitoring System now allows telemetry from fixed and mobile stations where typical line-of-sight modems are not feasible.
In contrast to a cell modem, 900 mHz or 8.5 gHz radio modems need directional antennas that are added around the site to bolster an already weak signal and circumnavigate obstructions – all of which can handicap a real-time monitoring system – while adding additional equipment expense to a project. With cell modems, the Greenlight System is now able to conquer some of the most challenging job sites!
